Campbell Building and Remodeling Information
The City of Campbell was named for its founder Benjamin Campbell, who settled the area in the mid-1800s (his father built a mill in what is now Saratoga). Campbell became well-known not only for its orchards but also as the Santa Clara Valley distribution center for shipping fruit by rail. The orchards gave way to a growing population of about 40,000 residents. We are reminded by the earlier history with landmark names such as “The Pruneyard” and “Water Tower Plaza."

Green Building in Campbell
In 2007, Campbell adopted the Tier 1 Green Building Recommendations of the Santa Clara County Cities Association. The City of Campbell has been a green-building exemplar by all new municipal facilities over 5,000 to be LEED Silver. Like many Bay Area cities, Build It Green and LEED were selected as the standards.
