Bay Area Custom Home
LEED Design
This Bay Area 5000 square foot custom home and pool house (under construction) is designed and built with LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) high performance green building strategies in mind. This zero net energy home, actually a net positive home, produces 150% of the energy it uses.
Bill Fry, general contractor, member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and Build-it-Green has built and remodeled green homes in Los Altos, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Saratoga, and other Bay Area cities.
With superior indoor air quality as a priority, all products have been vetted prior to installation. For example, the homeowners selected eco-friendly UltraTouch™ Denim Insulation and the most eco-friendly sheetrock available.
In addition, products and building practices that reduce long-term maintenance include: a Custom Bilt Metals standing seam metal roof and Thermory decking. Leading edge products (some of which are patent pending) include Sure Cavity™ Rainscreen, Quickflash weatherproofing products, and EcoSeal. |
