Bay Area Eichler Renovation
This Bay Area Eichler renovation extends the original Eichler floor plan with an addition that honors the California mid-century modern aesthetic. Experienced in Eichler remodeling, contractor Bill Fry replaced the old radiant heating system (hydronic heating). The plumbing and electrical systems are also new. CA modern design elements are: tiled entry atrium and outdoor dining area, modern European-style galley kitchen, two bathroom remodels, two gas fireplaces, closets throughout by The Sliding Door Company, and new Milgard windows.
Eichler homes got their eponymous name from Joseph Eichler, a California Modern building developer, whose designs were informed by modernist architects Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright. While the San Francisco Bay Area has many Eichler homes, Sunnyvale is the birthplace of this unique California Modern style home. With over 1000 Eichler homes, the City of Sunnyvale offers specific Eichler design guidelines, to protect the Eichler design aesthetic and to ensure privacy for neighboring homes.
