Home Addition Palo Alto

This Palo Alto home addition and whole house remodel, built by Palo Alto remodeling contractors and homebuilders, Bill Fry, took a ranch home down to the studs and added a master suite wing.

The homeowners had previously lived in an Eichler home and loved the midcentury aesthetic. So when it came time for a larger home, they found a ranch home with good bones and gave it a midcentury personality. They splurged on radiant heat, which provides a level of comfort you can't get from conventional heat, and economized on flooring and kitchen cabinetry.

Strategies to bring in more light to the home include: raised ceilings in the kitchen, livingroom and master bedroom; shed dormers to the front of the home; skylights; and large windows. Floating vanities in all of the bathrooms and large neutral tile also provide a light and airy feel.
